The journey from patient to researcher

Long before Erin Mobley, Ph.D., was an assistant professor in the department of surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, she was a patient herself. Now, almost 30 years after her cancer diagnosis and treatment, her personal experience continues to fuel her desire to improve the lives of fellow cancer survivors.

Breast Cancer Working Group hosts kickoff celebration

The new Breast Cancer Working Group held an inaugural celebration on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the Earl and Christy Powell University House. About 40 people gathered for the event, which featured presentations from the working group co-leaders and networking.

Lakeshia Cousin, Ph.D., APRN, AGPCNP-BC

Lakeshia Cousin, Ph.D., APRN, AGPCNP-BC, is an assistant professor in the department of family, community and health systems science in the College of Nursing. Clinically trained as an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner, she is a nurse scientist who bridges health equity, behavioral medicine and psychosocial support to research improvements in breast cancer survivorship for underserved populations.
