Advancing AML research
Jatinder Lamba, Ph.D., a professor in the department of pharmacotherapy & translational research, received a $3.3 million five-year R01 grant from the National Cancer Institute to study the biology of acute myeloid leukemia. Her work using precision genomics-based treatment regimens for improved patient outcomes was also the topic of a recent faculty spotlight by the UF Genetics Institute.

Sotorasib in KRAS G12C-mutated advanced pancreatic cancer
UF Health was a study location for a multicenter phase 1-2 trial showing that the KRAS G12C inhibitor sotorasib achieved anticancer activity with an acceptable safety profile in heavily pretreated patients with KRAS G12C-mutated metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Jason Brant, Ph.D.
Jason Brant, Ph.D., is a research assistant professor in the department of biostatistics in the UF College of Public Health & Health Professions. His research interests are focused on the role of DNA methylation and chromatin structure in regulating gene expression and how perturbations in the epigenome can result in disease onset and progression. At the Cancer Center, he works to provide computational and bioinformatics support for Cancer Center members, and he is developing new technologies for assaying chromatin structure.

Research Day 2023 draws nearly 120 trainee posters
The UF Health Cancer Center held a well-attended Research Day on Jan. 11 at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center, drawing a record number of submissions as the event returned to an in-person format. The event provided an outstanding opportunity for trainees to showcase their research and discuss ideas for future collaborations with their peers.
