UF research spending reaches record in 2018
University of Florida research spending rose almost 8 percent to a record $865 million in fiscal year 2018, according to a new report to the National Science Foundation.
UF’s response to NSF’s Higher Education Research and Development, or HERD, Survey showed a $63.6 million increase, or 7.9 percent, in expenditures over 2017’s total of $801.4 million.
Brief Hold in American Cancer Society Services
The American Cancer Society is dedicated to continued improvement of our quality services for patients. As part of that commitment, the ACS is transitioning to a new system for requesting and delivering our patient services. As we switch to the new system, the ACS will experience a brief disruption in our patient services.
ACS will pause service delivery for services occurring on Friday 3/1 through Friday 3/8. This includes transportation, lodging, Reach to Recovery and wig services. **ALL HOPE LODGE referrals will continue to be sent to HOPE LODGE Gainesville email and will resume without interruption**
- Patients will still be able to contact us for information services and community referrals during this time. Those who do submit referrals to us during this time should be prepared for a slight delay in our outreach to the patients.
NCIC will be reaching out to patients who have existing requests for transportation or lodging that fall within the outlined timeline of Friday 3/1 through Friday 3/8.
- These limited requests will be closed out and patients will be referred to community resources. If a patient already has a driver or vendor arranged for a ride between 3/1 and 3/11, NCIC will cancel the ride and notify the patient.
- If a patient already had lodging secured between 3/1 and 3/11, NCIC will cancel the lodging and notify the patient.
If a Reach To Recovery visit or wig has already been arranged between 3/1 and 3/11 those will remain scheduled though no new requests will be coordinated by NCIC during those dates.
We expect to be back up and running at full speed on March 11. In the meantime, we appreciate your understanding and support as we make certain that we are able to take care of everyone counting on us for these important services.
